Meet miracle baby Camila who is 6 months old and STILL fighting in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU). Camila was born with multiple complications, including two major congenital heart defects,Tetralogy of FallotandDiGeorge Syndrome. Soon after birth, Camila was sent toUCLAto have open heart surgery which would help improve blood flow to the lungs. Despite her incredible will to thrive, Camila has been discharged and sent back to the CTICU multiple times. While her family would love nothing more than to have Camila at home with them, they know the ICU is the best place for her right now.
Miracle MomAngie’s biggest piece of advice to other parents with aCHDchild is to find the support where you can. She suggests joining groups with other CHD parents and/or finding networks of parents with children of similar diagnoses. It can be lonely but finding even one person to talk to can make a huge difference.
We had the privilege of speaking with Angie about her journey in the NICU/CTICU. Stay tuned for our podcast featuring Camila and her incredible story.
