Supporting NICU Parents
Supporting parents who spend considerable time in the NICU that perform kangaroo care (skin to skin bonding) and breastfeeding and to support families as they transition home from the NICU.
Care Bags are attractive, sturdy nylon tote bags containing NICU navigation and resource information, First 5 California kit, adult toiletries, infant supplies, swaddle blanket, “I’m A Miracle” onesie, board book, snacks and other items of use to parents during their hospital stay.
Results of this project benefit the community in two primary ways; 1) informs families who may seek our services; and 2) provides take away materials for hospitals, donors, families, and the general public. Informing the families whose child is in the NICU of the availability of supports ensues family stressors are mitigated.
Miracle Babies Care Bags are distributed monthly to NICU’s throughout San Diego County, and quarterly at CHOC and UCI in Orange County.
