Meet Karen Anderson, MSW, LCSW Supervisor of the Social Work Department at Sharp Mary Birch
Karen Anderson is a licensed clinical social worker and the Supervisor of the social work department at Sharp Mary Birch. She has been working at Mary Birch Hospital for 30 years. In addition to supervising the social workers, Karendoes clinical work (counseling and crisis intervention) with families in the NICU, Post Partum, Ante-Partum and Labor & Delivery units. She has worked with hundreds of NICU parents and has seen through their eyes how terrifying it can be to have a baby in the NICU. Karen is always looking for ways to support NICU families and Miracle Babies has been a wonderful resource in helping parents be at the bedside with their baby and be prepared to take their baby home. Karen is also the chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee and has a passion for empowering and advocating for patients and families to be seen as members of the healthcare team.
